I am Elena, from Russia. My life was supposed to be a husband, my worshiping of him, a stove, pregnancies, child raring and no chance to do what I actually want. But one day I met a foreigner who would have been considered a subversive and an enemy in Russia. She didn’t do any of what a woman was supposed to do. By telling me about her life, she let me see that I didn’t have to do any of it either!
From then on, I was a subversive for Russians, too. I wanted none of what I was forced to want. I ran from my home to Ukraine’s capital with just one small suitcase. I abandoned everything I have ever known and I coudn’t have been happier.
From then on, it was one never-ending adventure for me and Meg. We are each other’s soulmates and life for us is adventure or there is no point. I have many places where I tell my story from different angles. This one is all about what I see on my voyage and what I want to keep in my heart. You are welcome to share with me this journey.
